We are recruiting new board members
16 February 2024
Are you looking for a satisfying volunteer role with a local charitable organization that supports those who need access to healthy food and advocates on their behalf for systemic equity and poverty reduction?
We are a community food bank in Ottawa, and our serving area includes the West Centretown, Somerset and Preston Street neighbourhoods. Our operation is located at Bronson Centre (211 Bronson Avenue) and we offer food service to the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
We are seeking people to join our Board of Directors. Ideal candidates will have volunteer experience, an understanding of the charitable sector and awareness of the multitude of factors that impact food insecurity. Applicants should demonstrate an affinity for cultivating relationships and collaborating within a diverse team environment.
At present, we are searching for someone to lead our Communications and Social Media activities, but we also have space for a candidate with strong business acumen.
If you are passionate about our mission, share comparable values and want to offer meaningful input into the oversight of our organization, please apply to join our Board of Directors. The team meets monthly for about 1.5 hours (typically on a week night), and each Director is asked to support the work of a sub-committee (Fundraising, Communications, or Advocacy). Members act as ambassadors for the organization and serve an initial two-year term.
